Your First Visit to Coast Bible Church

There are plenty of questions any visitor has when attending a new church for the first time.  Well, we want to put you at ease.  Your first visit to Coast Bible Church will be a refreshing, friendly and enjoyable experience for your whole family.  Here are a few answers to some questions you may have:

1.      What time does church begin?  How will I know where to go?

Our Sunday worship service begins at 10 a.m.  We have greeters in the courtyard ready to welcome you and point you in the right direction.  Be sure to grab a Welcome brochure in the foyer as you enter the sanctuary, along with the Sunday bulletin.  The brochure will give you some more information about CBC.  And, if you’d like to learn more about CBC, you’re welcome to fill out the visitor tear-off portion of the brochure and drop it in the offering plate as it’s passed.

2.      What is available for my children?

Families with children ages 0-3 may wish to arrive 10 minutes early to drop off their child at one of our safe, clean and highly staffed nurseries – one for infants and one for toddlers (walking babies until age 3).  Nursing mothers may also take advantage of the ‘cry room’ conveniently located at the back of the sanctuary in the foyer.

Children ages 3 through 6th grade begin the service in the sanctuary with their family for a time of praise and worship.  After the announcements (approx. 10:25 a.m.), they are dismissed to a brief Coast Kids opener in the Fireside room.  From there they break into age-appropriate, fun, friendly and Bible-centered classes:

·         Shorebreakers (ages 3-5) meet in room JK

·         Wave Catchers (K-2nd) meet in room 1C

·         Surf Riders (3rd-6th) meet in room 2C

For your child’s safety, all children’s workers are screened by Coast Bible Church.  Our teachers and helpers are friendly and well trained.  Your children will love the Coast Kids program.

Students in 7th-12th grade attend worship service with their family.  E.P.I.C. (Equipping People in Christ) youth group meets Wednesday nights (6:30-8:30 PM) in the Barn.

3.      What should I wear?  What should I bring?

There is no official dress code at Coast.  Come as you are.  We have folks who dress casually, and others who prefer a coat and tie.  In any event, we are more concerned about people than we are about appearance.

If you own a Bible, we welcome adults and children to bring it to church.  Bibles are also provided in the pews and in all children’s classes.

4.      What is the worship service like?

Our worship service begins with a mixture of inspiring contemporary praise songs and hymns.  We devote time to prayer and an occasional ministry or missions testimony from folks who are doing the work of the Lord, both locally and around the world.  Finally, our Pastor brings us clear, in-depth and life-applicable teaching from the Bible.  We observe the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month.  Our worship service lasts approximately 90 minutes.

5.      Am I expected to give an offering or participate in the Lord’s Supper?

No.  Please do not feel compelled to do anything other than be our guest.  The offering plate is for our regular attendees to give as God has blessed them.  We welcome any Christian to participate with us in the Lord’s Supper.  But again, such participation is not expected or required.

6.      What happens after the worship service is over?

Our worship service usually ends around 11:30 a.m.  After the service, you may pick up your children in their respective classrooms (see info above).  Many folks hang around after the service for fellowship in the courtyard.  And there are always lots of families who head out to lunch at a local restaurant.  Our CBC family is a very friendly bunch, so if you stick around after the service you can expect an invitation to lunch.

If there's something we missed on this list, just give us a call at (949) 364-1191, or ask someone when you arrive.  We hope you'll feel right at home from the very first moment you join us at CBC.  Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
